Epic Edits does a great survey of thematic techniques to get beyond boring portraits.

I think I’ll make a cheat sheet for when I get stuck at my weddings.

Interestingly enough the #1 technique:

PHOTOSHOP

My number one technique would be personal rapport, but that’s not visual so maybe it doesn’t count.
