Mind

Neil August 25th, 2010

The Way bears sensation,
Sensation bears memory,
Sensation and memory bear abstraction,
And abstraction bears all the world;
Each thing in the world bears feeling and doing,
And, imbued with mind, harmony with the Way.

As others have taught, so do I teach,
“Who loses harmony opposes nature”;
This is the root of my teaching.

Concerning all acts of creation

Neil December 30th, 2009

The moment one definitely commits oneself

“Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth –

that the moment one definately commits oneself, then, Providence moves, too.”

–Van Goethe

What are you defending?

Neil November 1st, 2009

What are you defending?

An illusory identity, an image in your mind, a fictitious entity.

By making this pattern conscious, by witnessing it, you dis-identify from it.

In the light of your conscious, the unconscious pattern will quickly dissolve.  This is the end of all arguments and power games which are so corrosive to relationships.  Power over others is weakness disguised as strength.  True power is within, and is available to you NOW.

_________________________

So anyone who is identified with their mind, and therefore disconnected from their true power their deeper self rooted in being will have fear as their constant companion.  The number of people who have gone beyond mind is as yet extremely small, so you can assume that virtually everyone you meet or know lives in a state of fear.  Only the intensity of it varies. It fluctuates between anxiety and dread at one end of the scale and a vague unease and distant sense of threat at the other.  Most people only become conscious of it when it takes on one of it’s more acute forms.  Another aspect of the emotional pain that is an intrinsic part of the egoic mind is a deep seeded sense of lack, or incompleteness – of not being whole.  In some people this is conscious, in others unconscious.  If it is conscious, it manifests as the unsettling and constant feeling of not being worthy or good enough.  …..often enter into a compulsive pursuit of ego gratification and things to identify with, in order to fill this hole they feel within.  And so they strive after possessions, money, success, power, recognition, or a special relationship.  Basically so they can feel better about themselves, feel more complete.  But even when they attain all these things, they find that the hole is still there.  That it is bottomless, then they are really in trouble – because they cannot elude themselves anymore……

Mind like Water : falling water 07-08-09

Neil September 16th, 2009

Learn photographic Lighting
The best of man is like water,
Which benefits all things, and does not contend with them,
Which flows in places that others disdain,
Where it is in harmony with the Way.

So the sage:
Lives within nature,
Thinks within the deep,
Gives within impartiality,
Speaks within trust,
Governs within order,
Crafts within ability,
Acts within opportunity.

He does not contend, and none contend against him.

unique sealed orders

Neil March 6th, 2009

“Throughout our lives each of us discovers more and more deeply our unique sealed orders, a way that only we are gifted to give and receive love.

When I am in touch with the special purpose of my life and carrying out my sealed orders, I have a profound feeling of consolation or rightness and my whole body relaxes.  I believe this sense of rightness expresses itself physiologically because the purpose of our life is built into the very cells of our body.

I have noticed this sense of rightness whenever I am in touch with our learning about the inner goodness of created things.  Loooking back, I realize that this has guided all my major decisions in life.”

Moments of desolation are equally instructive.

Mind Like Water: Tao 12

Neil December 24th, 2008

Too much colour blinds the eye,
Too much music deafens the ear,
Too much taste dulls the palate,
Too much play maddens the mind,
Too much desire tears the heart.

In this manner the sage cares for people:
He provides for the belly, not for the senses;
He ignores abstraction and holds fast to substance.

you will what you imagine

Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will.

Mind like water: Practice the art of Meditation

Neil April 27th, 2008

Mind like water is a visual metaphor for a state of being. A nugget I hope you gain from watching this video is quoted “choice is a function of awareness, awareness comes as a function of meditation.”

So if no-one has ever taught you the goal of meditation let me help you “observe things from a place of non-reaction, which does not mean detachment, but means not attached to an outcome.” And this is my personal favorite photographic mode, allowing my own choices to be fully aware and scooping creative power from the natural surroundings….I hope you begin a practice of meditation into your life to help you create with a watchful eye and this article blesses you with the inertia to start that practice.
